Milepost 1454: Deep in the Heart of Texas...

Today we took Hwy 90 east - Actually, it goes through southern Texas, quite close to the Mexican border. It was a long, long stretch with few services, but lots of picnic areas. The scenery started out rather dull, but got much more interesting as we got farther along.
We took a side trip to Fort Davis National Historic Site. It was pretty interesting. They are in the process of reconstructing it. We spent nearly 3 hours there, walking around and taking photos.
We are spending the night in Del Rio, Texas.  ...And yes, there really is a nice river here.
